First off, thank you for using Formative! We know you may have questions about what happens when your account is downgraded, and we would like to answer these questions for you.

What will happen to my formatives?

First and foremost ALL of the Formatives YOU CREATED will remain in your account, however, you will lose access to those shared with you by other teachers if you were previously on a School & District license (more on collaboration below). You will continue to have access to all your formatives from your dashboard, and your formatives created with Extended Feature question types will remain in your collection. We do not delete formatives when a subscription ends. These formatives can continue to be assigned to your classes next school year.

What features will I have access to?

Regarding specific features, here is what will happen:

Creating new formatives

You will be able to create new formatives as before, but will be limited to 20 PAGES of uploads monthly, please note, this is not 20 uploads - but rather 20 PAGES total for the month. The question types available to Free Teacher account holders:

The following questions and content items will no longer be available to you:

Private Library (School & District license)

If you have published activities to your school's Private Library any content you published to that library will need to be re-published to the public Formative Library, as your team's private library will no longer be accessible. Click here to learn more about publishing to the public Library.

Data Tracking

When downgrading to a Free Teacher plan, educators will only have a 14 day look-back period for tracker data. Consider exporting any data older than 14 days to avoid losing it. While data older than 14 days will not be available on the tracker, you will still be able to pull up your students' responses and scores for individual activities from their "responses" tab.

Your students will no longer have access to the student-side standards tracker.

Note: You will no longer have access to data collected on activities you are not the owner of. If you are a collaborator on another teacher's activity, and you've assigned that activity to your class - once your account is downgraded to the free version, that activity will no longer be available to you, as well as all the student data associated with it. We highly recommend exporting the results of such activities to a CSV or Google Sheet prior to the account's downgrade.

Assigning and Grading

Certain assign settings, such as scheduling open/close times and restricting to individuals, are not available to our Free Teacher accounts. Randomization of questions order, is limited to Paid Teacher and the School & District license subscribers only. Grading options for Free Teacher account holders do not include group grading/feedback, or Google Classroom/LTI Grade Passback. Usage of special Learning Tools such as the integrated calculator will no longer be available.

Time Limit Extension, Answer Choice Reduction and Text to Speech accommodations are also School & District license features you will no longer have access to.

Collaboration (School & District license)

Collaborators will lose access to shared activities and folders. You will retain access to those you created or currently own, but not to those shared by others (i.e. that you were added as a collaborator to). Prior to downgrading, consider cloning activities owned by others so that you retain a copy for yourself.

Note: once you lose access to a shared activities you also lose all the student data associated with that activity. If you've assigned such an activity to your students, we highly recommend exporting the results prior to your account's downgrade so you won't lose access to them.

Co-Teaching is a School & District license feature, so all co-teachers will be removed from shared classes. Co-teachers will have to create their own classes and will lose previously shared data. If data needs to be shared, consider exporting data to share with colleagues - once a Free Teacher account holder, exports are limited to 4 per month.

Admin Tab (School & District license)

Admins for School & District licenses have access to an additional tab with team management features and powerful data. Once accounts revert to the Free Teacher account, the Admin tab will no longer be present.

Dedicated Success Manager (School & District license)

If you received support and services from a Success Manager, you will be reverted back to our normal support level. Formative Success Managers are former educators who are committed to making sure Formative school & district licensed teams are successful, educators are trained, and Admins understand how to use our tool to monitor student growth. Formative Success Managers offer ongoing training and professional development, and are available to respond to your requests and needs in a more personalized way if you continue under a School & District license.

Auto-rostering and LMS Integration (School & District license)

LMS integration through LTI is reserved for School & District licensed teams. Any previously set up auto-rostering through OneRoster, ClassLink, or other systems will no longer be updated.

Renew Subscription

If you would like to keep all of the features and services you've had access to thus far, you must renew your subscription.
School & District license subscribers, please reach out to your Success Manager to discuss renewal before the existing subscription expires to avoid loss of data and collaboration features, or email us at partnerships@goformative.com.
