How we grade the "Allow Partial Credit" feature in Hot Spot questions
When you select “Allow Partial Credit”, students’ scores will be auto-graded like this:
Let's take a look at an example of how this works in practice. Here is a Hot Spot answer key:
There are 4 answer choices. 2 answer choices are correct, 2 answer choices are incorrect. This question is scored out of 1 point.
To receive 100% of the score, students will need to choose only the 2 correct answers.
Here are some examples of student responses to this Hot Spot question, along with their auto-graded scores.
Student A marked 1 correct answer choice and 1 incorrect answer choice:
1 correct answer - 1 incorrect answer = 0
Student A receives 0% of the score
Student B has marked 2 correct answer choices and 1 incorrect answer choice:
2 correct answers - 1 incorrect answer = 1
Student B receives 50% of the score (in this case 0.5 points)
Student C has marked 2 correct answer choices and 2 incorrect answer choice:
2 correct answers - 2 incorrect answer = 0
Student C receives 0% of the score
