🆕 Enhancement releases
We've been busy! Here's a sneak peek at our April 2025 new features and improvements:
'Add Item' Revamp (Coming Soon)
As part of an ongoing design revamp of Formative's pages, our 'Add Item' modal received a facelift! Same functions are available, however they are now organized into 3 tabs for an friendlier and more efficient experience:
Add Item - includes all Media items, Free Questions and Paid Questions and a preview window where teachers can get a glimpse of what each item will look like when added. This tab also includes the option to add sections into the activity.
Upload Images or Documents - includes the ability to search Google Images or add an image URL, upload a file from your device, grab a file from Google Drive, take a photo with your device's camera, or draw an image using our Drawing board.
Create with AI - generate an activity with Formative's AI feature
Use the 'Library + Item Bank' button, located at the top right corner of the modal, to grab items from previously created formatives in your account, the library, or from the Item Bank (if applicable to your subscription)

🤖 Beta and Early Access Features Updates
The below features have been added to our list of future features teachers can opt-in to test with us:
AI Generation Improvements
Several AI enhancements have been rolled out to support smarter content generation:
You can now generate up to 10 questions at once, saving time when creating assessments.
A standards selector has been added, and standards are automatically applied when selected—ensuring alignment to learning goals.
If a content block includes text or an image, both are now used as context to generate more relevant questions.
When adding an image, teachers can choose to simply "Add" it or "Add and Generate Questions" instantly.
The maximum character count for prompts has been expanded from 1,000 to 4,000, allowing for richer and more detailed inputs.
QOTD (Question of the Day) Wrap-Up
The student list now displays inactive students with a distinct icon, allowing teachers to better track who hasn’t participated without losing visibility.

Print Improvements
Enhanced printing support for Matching, Resequence, Categorize, Multiple Select, Match Table Grid, Drag and Drop, and Drawing question types, making it easier for teachers to provide offline practice or paper-based assessments when needed.
