🆕 Enhancement releases
We've been busy! Here's a sneak peek at our latest new features and improvements:
Preserve Question Order in Specific Sections
A new section-level setting allows teachers to preserve the order of questions within specific sections, even when the overall assignment is set to shuffle randomly. This provides more granular control over assessment structure, ensuring that questions intended to be sequential remain in order. This is particularly useful for scaffolding, narrative-based questions, or multi-part problems that build on each other.
Display Standards for Students
Students can now see the standards or tags associated with each question while completing an assignment. This feature enhances learning by providing immediate context on the specific skills being assessed. Tags are displayed beneath the question content, making the purpose of each question more transparent to the student.
Luna AI Experience
The Luna AI experience has been significantly upgraded to make content creation faster and smarter.
Context-Aware Sidebar: The sidebar now automatically selects the right assistant (Editing or Onboarding) based on your formative's content. This delivers a more intuitive and efficient workflow.
Bulk Suggestion Management: New "Accept All" and "Skip" buttons allow you to manage all AI suggestions with a single click, dramatically speeding up content refinement.
New Question Generation: The Editing Assistant can now suggest and add entirely new questions, further accelerating your content creation time.
Expanded Question Type Support: AI assistance now includes Categorize, Matching, and Numeric question types, broadening the scope of AI editing across your item bank.
Higher Quality Content Output: Improved underlying prompts guide the AI to produce more accurate and structurally sound questions, resulting in higher quality content.
Show Your Work Tools
We have added lines with arrows to the "Show Your Work" feature. This directly benefits students by providing them with new visual tools to better illustrate direction, vectors, and steps in their mathematical and scientific problem-solving process.
Refined Collapsible Editor Interface
The Formative editor now features a cleaner, collapsed user interface. This change reduces visual clutter, making the assignment creation process simpler and allowing teachers to focus more easily on their content. Teachers can select to expand all or expand only one item at a time.
Admin Common Assessment Report Filtering
The Common Assessments report in the Admin dashboard now offers a way to filter the report by teacher names.
🤖 Beta and Early Access Features Updates
The below features have been added to our list of future features teachers can opt-in to test with us:
BubbleSheet Capacity Increase
The maximum value for the number of questions in the Bubble Sheet has been updated to 50. This enhancement ensures administrators can successfully generate answer keys for longer, high-stakes assessments without reaching previous system limits.
🛠️ Fixes
Every technological tool runs into hiccups here and there. If you run into any technical issues please submit a report to our team so we could go ahead and fix it!
Formative Header Image
We've reduced the height of the formative header image. This tweak provides more vertical space, making the "add item" buttons more accessible and improving the editing experience, especially for users on smaller screens or laptops. This change is part of a larger effort to simplify the editor interface and improve usability for teachers when building assignments.
New Subject Added
We have officially added 'Intervention' as a subject category. This allows instructional leaders and teachers to correctly tag and filter specialized content, making it easier to track resources used for small-group and individualized student support.
Loading Performance
Over the summer we brought you one of the biggest changes to ever come to the editor, tables! We recently tweaked performance to allow for improved loading. This significantly enhances application performance, particularly when teachers are working on large Formatives with extensive content.
Question Type Renaming
The question type formerly known as "Inline Choice" has been officially renamed to "Dropdown.", making the question reference more intuitive and easier to understand.
File Size Limit Increase
The maximum allowed file size for direct uploads and Google Drive uploads has been significantly increased from 100MB to 500MB and 10MB to 500MB respectively.
Student Timeline
The student activity section has been renamed Student Timeline both on the student management page and the class page. Inside activities, the timeline is accessible by clicking the triple dots within the student's submission.
