Supported Devices / Browsers

Formative can be accessed from any device that has a modern, up-to-date browser and stable high-speed internet connection.

For desktop computers, we recommend you use the current stable version of Google Chrome or Firefox. Third-party browsers based on Chrome or Firefox technology should also work.

On ChromeOS devices (Chromebooks), use Chrome.

On iOS devices (iPad and iPhone), use Safari. We support iOS devices v11 and up.

On Android devices, use the current stable version of Google Chrome. Devices that are too old to update to the latest version of Chrome are not supported.

Adding Formative as a Trusted App in Google Workspace

Please refer to the steps and additional FAQs in this article.

Using Apple Pencil with Formative

Apple pencil will work best with Formative when the “Scribble” on the Apple Pencil is turned off. If you're running into issue when using Formative with an Apple Pencil please follow the instructions in the linked Apple support article included here to turn the feature off, or adjust it.

Content Upload Limits

When uploading content from your device or from Google Drive, please note there is a 25MB file size limit per upload of Images, PDFs, Docs, Slides, etc. While Videos are limited to 10 minutes length.

If your file is larger than 25MB you can take one (or both) of the following options:

  • Split the file into smaller chunks and upload each separately

  • Remove or replace "heavy" content that would normally enlarge the total file size - such as images, GIFs and embedded videos - from your document or slides deck

If your video is longer than 10 minutes, please publish the video to a 3rd party host platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, and use the link to add the video into Formative instead.
