Definition

Students can respond to your question by uploading a file! This is great for submitting projects and presentations, or to collect photo responses.

Please note: File responses are limited to 100 MB in size

Add a file response question:

  1. Click on the blue + button

  2. Choose "File Response" from the Question types

  3. Prompt / ask students to provide a response by uploading a file

Adjust question settings

Students will not be able to submit their work without providing an answer

Add a whiteboard style box for your students to showcase their work

Use a rubric to provide your students feedback and grades

You can also add hints for your students, and tag the question to standards.

Student View

When students are assigned a file response question, they will see an "upload file response" button below the question/prompt

Clicking the button will prompt them to choose between uploading a file from their device, or picking a file from Google Drive.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

🙋🏼 How do I view my students' responses?

On the View Responses page, you select a student, then click the file to view it in a separate window.

🙋🏿‍♂️ Why are students getting an error message when trying to upload a file?

If a student is attempting to upload an unsafe file extension (ie .exe files) or other non-supported files, they will receive a "That file is not supported" notification
