Tables in Formative

We're excited to announce that Tables are now available across most question types in Formative! This powerful new feature offers flexible ways to present information and engage your students with structured responses.

Tables can be utilized in two primary ways to enhance your instructional and assessment content:

  1. Displaying Data and Organizing Information

    • Easily embed tables directly into your questions to present data clearly.

    • Organize comparative information, steps in a process, or any data set that benefits from a structured layout.

    • This helps students visualize relationships and interpret complex information more effectively.

  2. Eliciting Student Responses within a Structured Format

    • Fill-in-the-Blank Tables: Create tables where students complete missing information directly within the cells. This is perfect for categorizing, matching, or providing specific data points.

    • Drag-and-Drop Tables: Design interactive tables where students drag and drop correct information or categories into designated cells. This allows for dynamic assessment of classification, sequencing, or matching skills.

    • Tables are integrated with various question types, including Numeric, Inline Choice, and Drag and Drop, providing versatile assessment options.

With Tables, you can create even richer, more interactive content that not only enhances student understanding but also streamlines your assessment creation and grading.

Note: At this time tables are not supported for Categorize, Resequence and Match Table Grid question types.
