What are Luna Next Steps?
Available to teachers at districts with a Balanced Assessment by Formative package. After an assessment is submitted, Luna analyzes student performance against learning standards and instantly recommends Luna Next Steps for enrichment or additional targeted support. Teachers can chat with Luna to further customize Luna Next Steps. Luna Next Steps is easily accessible from the assessment’s Insights page within the platform, supporting efficient, data-driven instruction at scale.
How It Works
For Luna Next Steps to be available on an assessment:
Student responses must be submitted
Note: for optimal accuracy of Next Steps suggestions, it is recommended to have all student responses fully graded before interacting with the Luna
Luna Next Steps will be generated based on the top 3 underperforming standards tagged to the assignment. If standards have not been tagged to the assignment, Luna will use the top 3 underperforming questions to generate the Next Steps suggestions.
Access Luna Next Steps
Within an assessment, navigate to the Insights tab. Click on the Luna icon at the bottom right corner of the screen. As long as the above prerequisites are met, Luna will present you with Next Steps suggestions and offer to create a follow-up assignment or practice set based on your students' performance on standards.
Generate New Formative
Select 'Generate new formative'
Luna will offer you additional insight and ask for input on how you would like your Next Steps formative to be constructed
Provide Luna with responses and Luna will generate suggested items to include
You can then either accept or reject the suggestions (this can be done for individual items, or you can select to accept or reject all)
Once accepted, generated items will be added to the formative
You can continue to chat with Luna to add more items, or edit, the newly created formative
Generate Practice Set
Select 'Generate practice set'
Allow Luna some time to process your request
Once done, Luna will display a confirmation message at the bottom of the screen
Scroll to the bottom of the Insights tab, the newly created follow-up practice set will be accessible from the Practice Progress section
From here you can assign the set, view progress on it, or pop it open in a new tab
You can also head over to your Practice Sets tab to locate the generated follow up set
Click into the practice set to review the cards and edit as needed, share and assign
